Directions.
We are used to the cardinal directions found on a compass: North, South, East and West. There are lesser directions that mark the halfway point between the major compass points. They are North-East, South-East, North-West, and South-West.
To a shaman, there are other directions that are equally important.
Look straight UP to the stars, the moon, and the sun. The starry heavens describe hope, mystery, beauty and energy.
Look straight DOWN, to look at the earth, Mother Gaia. Looking down is to look not just the earth under our feet, look past the surface to the roots of the trees, plants, and further down into the lower world.
When you look East, you see the sun rising to brighten our lives and warm the earth and us every morning. The sun feeds all living things with energy, and so it does us. It is all about our daily spiritual awakening.
New beginnings start with each sunrise.
Every morning is another opportunity to step closer to a higher level of awareness and enriching our soul with wisdom. The sun pulls us from our sleep and embraces us with warmth and divine light.
As our higher self-awakens, we see unlimited potential everywhere, including in ourselves.
The East and Spring are youthful and full of curiosity and wanting to explore a brave new world of opportunity and hope.
